What we Solve
The problem
A missing form or a vaccine given in the wrong order, discovered at the airline counter with your bags checked.
What we do
Every document and deadline for your pet and your route, each linked to the official source that requires it.
The problem
Some return paperwork can only be done before you leave the US. Some can only be done in the last five days abroad. Most people find out too late.
What we do
We flag what the trip home needs the day you save your route, while there is still time to act on it.
The problem
A layover is not always an entry. Travellers get sold a second health certificate for a country they never actually enter.
What we do
We ask whether you will leave the airport on each layover, because that answer decides which country's rules apply.
The problem
Governments and airlines change pet rules with little notice. A page you read last month may not say the same thing today.
What we do
We check government and airline pages every day. A person reviews each change, and you hear about the ones on your route.
Our Story
Maya is my cockapoo and my trained service dog. Together we have crossed into Mexico more times than I can count, flown to Colombia twice, and been to the Dominican Republic.
On our first trip to Colombia, a vet told me I needed two health certificates: one for our layover in Lima, and one for Colombia. I did not. Maya never left the airport, so Peru never applied. Nobody had asked the one question that mattered.
Compass & Collar asks it for you, along with every other rule each border actually has, from the official sources, in plain English.

From “let’s bring them” to a journey you can actually keep track of.
Add your dog or cat's microchip and vaccination details. Not sure about a record? Say so. We would rather know what is missing than guess.
Every leg, every layover, and the trip home. The trip home is where most problems happen.
Documents, deadlines and the official source for each one. We watch those sources daily and tell you when one changes.

The Part Nobody Warns you About
Most pet travel advice stops at the outbound flight. But people get stranded on the way back, holding a dog in a foreign airport, missing a form they could only have got at home.
Returning to the US from the Dominican Republic or Colombia needs a rabies certification your vet must complete before you leave. There is no way to arrange it once you have landed. We tell you the day you save the route, not the week you fly home.
If your dog’s rabies shot was given before the microchip, the US will not accept it, and no paperwork fixes that. The shot has to be repeated. We check the order the moment you add your dog.
Flying your dog home from Mexico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic or Colombia needs a screwworm inspection by a government vet there, within five days of the flight. It can only be done abroad, so we help you leave room for it at the end of your trip.
Where will you Go Together?
Journeys starting in the United States. Every destination shows how far our checking goes and who the rules actually come from. If we have not verified something, we say so.
Entry rules are set by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

A Little Help before Takeoff
Add your dog or cat, then build a journey with your destination and dates. If you do not know a detail yet, choose “not sure”. That is a real answer here, and we will tell you what is still missing.
Yes, and you should. One journey holds every leg, including layovers and the return. The trip home is where most problems actually happen.
Six destinations from the United States, listed above, plus the rules for bringing your pet back into the US. Every one shows its own status. A country appearing in a dropdown is never a promise that we have checked it.
We check the official government and airline sources daily. A change is reviewed by a person before it reaches you, because a changed web page is not automatically a new law. You get told what changed, when it takes effect, and where it came from.
No, and we will never tell you otherwise. A saved profile is a record, not clearance. We explain the requirements and show you the source; your vet issues the certificate and your airline decides what it carries.
Free to start, and the free version is genuinely usable: your pets, your routes, the requirement lists and the official sources. The Annual Subscription, $79 a year, adds the checks against each pet’s own records, reminders and rule-change emails. While we launch, everything is free for everyone.
